A Prof. James Wong

Echocardiology

Graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1985 with honours in Medicine and Surgery. James went on to train in cardiology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and was awarded a National Heart Foundation scholarship to complete a PhD in vascular biology at the Baker Medical Research Institute.

Post graduate training was obtained in an Advance Cardiac Imaging Fellowship in the Cardiovascular Imaging Laboratory at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio USA. He won first prize in the Advanced Fellow's Research Award for two successive years at the Cleveland Clinic, first prize at the Ohio Chapter of the ACC Young Investigators award in 1997, first prize in the Young Investigators Award of the American Society of Echocardiograpy 1998 for work on ultrasound facilitated gene therapy.

James is a Head of Echocardiography at Royal Melbourne Hospital and acardiologist at the John Fawkner Hospital and Melbourne Private Hospitals. His main interests are in cardiac ultrasound and stress echocardiography.
